School-Based Play Therapy Internship
This internship is for those interested in doing play therapy with elementary school
children ages 5 to 11 in a public school in Walnut Creek. You will work one or two days
at the school leading small therapy groups and doing in-depth psychotherapy with individuals.
There is a well-supplied play therapy office, including sandtray, dollhouse, puppets and art supplies.
You will collaborate with teachers and parents, as well as be in a supervision group with other interns.
Our orientation will be informed by analytic, intersubjective, attachment, feminist and social
justice theories.
Supervision group meets in North Berkeley on Thursdays from 2-3:50.
The commitment is for a school year and hiring generally happens in Spring for the following year.
Private Practice Internship
Interns interested in developing and deepening their clinical work can benefit from a private practice
internship. You would work in my office in North Berkeley and receive individual supervision weekly.
Interns need to be able to bring at least 4 clients to start and have interest and energy to
build their client loads. You will also keep track of a checking account by making deposits of
client checks, writing checks approved and signed by me and keeping client files.
I consult with licensed clinicians who want to continue refining and deepening
the subtle and layered work that can occur consciously and unconsciously between us and our
clients. This requires commitment, curiosity and humility in order to continually practice
recognizing what arises in these relationships, what our part might be in enactments and how
to make useful meaning of it for our clients and ourselves. I provide individual and group
consultation for those interested.
